Baahubali 2 is about to finish its first week’s run at the box office and its spoils will ensure makers will be laughing all the way to the bank. Baahubali The Conclusion took its time, even postponed its release but without having an iota of effect on the curiosity of fans. It has been a week since SS Rajamouli revealed why Kattappa killed Baahubali and the thankful fans have kept the houseful board up in many places. On Thursday, trade said that Baahubali 2 box office collections of the first six day are about Rs 785 crore, according to early estimates. While trade tracker Ramesh Bala wrote on Twitter, “(ESTIMATES) #Baahubali2 6 Days WW BO: #India Nett – ₹ 495 Crs, Gross – ₹ 630 Crs, Overseas – ₹ 155 Crs, Total – ₹ 785 Crs,” Sreedhar Pillai said, “#Baahubali2 out grosses #Baahubali1 worldwide collections in 6 days! #B2 is grossed around Rs 750cr compared to #B1’s Rs 650Cr life time!” Final numbers are awaited.
SS Rajamouli’s film is creating new records with each passing day. The film, after giving a rocking collection on Monday, has managed to deliver a blockbuster performance at the box office on Tuesday too. The film, which stars Prabhas in the lead role, has managed to mint about Rs 495 crore at the box office in India and has left behind the lifetime collection of its prequel Baahubali: The Beginning and Aamir Khan’s Dangal by a wide margin. What is even more shocking is the fact that it has created the record within five days of release.
Trade analyst Ramesh Bala shared the figures of Baahubali 2 box office collection in his tweet. He wrote, “#Baahubali2 with it’s 5-day All-India NBOC of ~ ₹440 Crs has beaten #Baahubali – I’s ₹420 Crs / #Dangal ‘s ₹ 387.39 to emerge All-Time No.1!”
Newsweek says that the film will soon “exceed the global grosses of both 2016’s Dangal, which earned Rs 730 crore ($113 million), and current top film, PK, which was released in 2014 and took Rs 792 crore ($123 million) worldwide.”
And not just in India, in the US too, the film has emerged as number one Indian film. “As of Wed, May 3rd – #Baahubali2 with $12,636,000 (Not Final) crosses #Dangal ‘s $12,391,761 to emerge All-time No.1 Indian Movie in #USA 👍.” Newsweek revealed another record Baahubali 2 broke, “With its strong first week sales, Baahubali 2 had the best opening for an Indian film at the U.S. box office and third best opening for a foreign language film, behind only Jet Li’s Fearless and Hero, according to figures from Box Office Mojo.”
In many states across the nation, the tickets for the film have been already pre-booked for next week. And in Russia, on popular demand, new shows have been added. In fact, Baahubali: The Conclusion has become the first film to earn $1 million on a weekday.
