Reliance Jio 100 percent cashback offer on JioFi; explained in 5 key points

Reliance Jio calls it the ‘effective 100% cash back for the JioFi.’ JioFi device is a hotspot device, which lets users rely on a Jio SIM to set up a WiFi hotspot and power other devices.
Reliance Jio has launched a 100% cashback offer with its JioFi router. The Mukesh Ambani-owned telco, which has already taken India by storm is looking to tap into the dongles, data card and wifi routers market in the country. Jio has come up with a couple of offers, and under the first plan, the users of the JioFi router are liable to receive a Rs 1005 exchange offer. These customers would be able to exchange their current data card, dongle or router at any Jio Digital Store or Jio Care store and receive a 4G data card worth Rs 2010 in return of the exchanged device.
These users would have to pay Rs 1999 for the router and pay for a mandatory first recharge of Rs 408 (Rs 309 for the plan), ensuring free services for a period of 84 days. They could also pay an amount of Rs 99 for a Jio Prime membership. Hence, the customer would be paying Rs 1999 for Rs 2010 worth of 4G data, translating to 0 cost for the user. This makes the internet connection basically free. It must, however, be noted that the user would still have to pay Rs 408 in order to avail the services.
According to the 2nd plan, the users would get JioFi at Rs 1999 after the first compulsory recharge of Rs 408 but would get its worth Rs 1005. This would mean, that the effective cost of this plan is Rs 994. The first plan could be considered to be ideal for dongle users while the second makes more sense for laptop, smartphone or tablet users.

What is the process to avail the offer?

Jio calls this the ‘effective 100% cash back for the JioFi.’ JioFi device is a hotspot device, which lets users rely on a Jio SIM to set up a WiFi hotspot and power other devices. The company has listed out specific steps for you to purchase the JioFi device and get the old dongle exchanged. Primarily, you will have to buy the device from the official jio.com website. Following this, you will have to visit a Reliance Jio Store, Digital Xpress, etc, and take the original bill, the JioFi box, and your old dongle. You will also have to submit Proof of Identity (POI), Proof of Address (POA), and a passport size colour photograph in order to get the SIM for the JioFi device activated.

What are the devices which can be exchanged?

The company has also listed the eligible dongles which can be exchanged under this scheme, and it includes dongles from Airtel, Idea, Vodafone, Tata, MTS, RCOM, Micromax, D-Link, Huawei, iBall, ZTE, Lava, Intex, Netgear and BSNL. You are no eligible to hand in an old JioFi device for exchange.

What to do after the JioFi device is activated?

Following the activation of the JioFi device, users will have to recharge with Rs 99 for the Prime membership and then by Rs 309 or Rs 509 for the Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan offer. After this offer is over, that is after 84 days, users will need to get a minimum recharge of Rs 149 and above if they want it to keep this activated.

There is a catch in Jio’s ‘Terms & Conditions’

According to the terms and conditions in the Jio offer, ‘to avail the benefit of the offer, the customer will have to do the recharge on monthly basis with a ‘MONTHLY’ voucher.’ This essentially means if you do the Rs 309 recharge as the first one, you will have to do it every month, if you want to enjoy the free vouchers for your dongle. The terms and conditions and conditions list add, “The validity of the 5GB data will work co-terminus with that of the base plan.”

What is the validity of the offers, and where can we use JioFi?

The offer is valid until March 2018 and is applicable under both pre-paid and postpaid plans. You can use the JioFi device to get 4G Data, make VoLTE calls even on 2G or 3G smartphones, and can also connect with up to 10 devices.
