Salman Khan-starrer Tubelight might have got fans going gaga here in India, but it looks like the film won't see the light of the day in Pakistan. The film, which features Chinese actress Zhu Zhu and Salman's brother Sohail Khan alongside the actor, is finding difficult to find distributors in Pakistan as no local distributor is willing to come forward and release the film.
If reports are to be believed, Salman’s extraordinary popularity among Pakistani audiences has proved to be a deterrent in the film's release.
According to the President of the Indian Film Exporters Association, Hirachand Dand, local distributors in Pakistan are hesitant to acquire the film mainly to promote the uninterrupted release of two big local films scheduled for Eid release. The makers don't want any competition and especially from a big-budget Bollywood film.
Dand has been quoted as saying, "Salman has millions of fans in Pakistan and the filmmakers are in no mood to pitch their films against his. They are determined to protect the interests of their films instead."
According to sources, the decision of delaying Tubelight release has been in consideration amid Pakistani distributors but the price factor has now become a major point of contention.
The news of the stalled release comes just a day after Salman sparked a debate when he spoke in favour of talks with Pakistan and said that those who demand war should be sent to the border to end the warmongering.
"Those who order wars should be sent to the forefront and be told that you fight first. Their hands and feet will tremble. The war will be over in a day. Then they will sit across the table and talk," he said.
