Few days before, Actor Sooraj Pancholi was charged with Jiah Murder Case on ‘abetment to suicide’. On June 3, 2013, the Bollywood Industry and the entire nation was in shock when beautiful and young actress Jiah Khan was found hanging at her Mumbai residence. The death was considered a suicide until Jiah’s mother filed a case against Jiah’s boyfriend Sooraj Pancholi who is also the son of actor Aditya Pancholi in October 2013. The case was then accepted by the court.
There has been a major progress in the case. A sessions court in Mumbai framed the charges against the 27-year-old actor Sooraj Pancholi on ‘abetment to suicide’ for the death of actress Jiah Khan in 2013. His lawyer, Prashant Patil said, “Sooraj pleaded innocence and the examination of witnesses will start from February 14.”
However, Sooraj Pancholi, in his statement said that he was waiting for this day so that he can finally defend himself. In an interview with Indian Express, “I was always supposed to get charged for something. Because if I am not charged, I cannot go to trial. That is how it was. So, I have been waiting for this day for the past five years. Finally, on February 14, my trial will start and that is the only chance I have to defend myself. I have been waiting and waiting for this date.”
Even his father Aditya Pancholi said that he is happy to start the legal battle.
According to the CBI, Sooraj Pancholi had “hidden facts and fabricated information” during questioning, and hence, he has been charged now. He also refused to undergo polygraph or brain-mapping tests.
