Box Office is the most unpredictable game. A small budget and risky film sometimes give the best profits to producers while a film with guaranteed Hit formula added with high budget becomes the nightmare of producers. If somebody knew the results earlier, they would never invest big in a wrong film, but this experience comes with the wrong choices only.
We gave you a list of Bollywood’s all time record breaking films earlier and now we bring you the list of films which had a huge budget but proved to be Big Flops.
1. Raju Chacha (29 Dec 2000)
Ajay Devgn invested all his money in this film but got losses in return. A film with 25 crores budget earned just 10.5 crores net at Box Office.
2. Mangal Pandey (12 Aug 2005)
Aamir Khan’s Mangal Pandey was a big dud back in 2005. The film was made on a budget of 37 crores and earned just 28 crores net.
3. Saawariya ( 9 Nov 2007)
Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor’s debut movie Saawariya was set on a budget of 45 crores and earned just 21 crores. The film released against Shah Rukh Khan’s Om Shanti Om, hence got very few takers despite all the hype.
4. Love Story 2050 (4 July 2008)
The film set on a budget of 40 crores (too big for that time) had big expectations in the industry. However, the film bit the dust and opened to a weak response. Lifetime collections were less than 12 crores.
5. Drona (2 Oct 2008)
Abhishek Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra’s mega budget movie had a budget of 43 crores net but proved to be a disaster. It earned just 9 crores net at Box Office.
6. Blue (16 Oct 2009)
Akshay Kumar’s Blue was immensely hyped big budget Diwali release. The film had a budget of 80 crores but hardly earned 30 crores net at Box Office.
7. Kites (20 May 2010)
Hrithik Roshan starrer big budget movie Kites proved to be a washout at Box Office. The film with a budget of 82 crores net started on a promising note but tanked later due to bland content. It managed to earn just 47.75 crores net at Box Office.
8. Raavan (18 June 2010)
Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai starrer Raavan was made on a grand scale. The budget was 55 crores and the film earned just 29 crores net.
9. Guzaarish (19 Nov 2010)
Sanjay Leela Bhansali made a film with very less appeal and mounted on a scale of 75 crores net. Majority of the cine-goers rejected the otherwise acclaimed film which earned less than 30 crores net at Box Office.
10. Ra. One (26 Oct 2011)
Shah Rukh Khan had high expectations when he spent huge money in producing the sci-fi movie Ra. One. However, the content was not up to the mark set by audience and film proved to be a Big Flop.
Set on the budget of 130 crores approx the film failed to recover the investments. It ended its lifetime business at 113.60 crores net.
11. Bombay Velvet (15 May 2015)
Anurag Kashyap’s ambitious project Bombay Velvet starring Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma in lead proved to be the biggest dud of that year. The film with a budget of 120 crores managed to earn just 23 crores net approx at Box Office which is less than the expected opening day of films set on this scale.
12. Jagga Jasoos (14 July 2017)
Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif’s Jagga Jasoos released after many delays. The film had an extended budget of 131 crores but earned just 55 crores net approx at Box Office.
