Chahal first played under India 2 years back in ODI against Zimbabwe. In his first meet with Dhoni, Chahal addressed him as “Mahi sir”.
Even while playing, he kept calling him “Sir”. However, after 2 overs, Dhoni called him and told him to not call “Sir”. Chahal reveals, “During Zimbabwe tour when I met him first, I used to call him Mahi Sir. After two overs he called me and said, ‘Mahi, Dhoni, Mahendra Singh Dhoni or Bhai. Call me whatever you want’” .
Chahal revealed this in talk show Breakfast With Champions with Gaurav Kapoor. He even said that Mahi gave him the ODI cap. For Chahali, Dhoni means a lot and he truly has immense respect for him.
