Xiaomi’s plans to launch yet another sub-brand are certainly no longer a secret. In fact, the Pocophone series is expected to make its first official appearance in just two days’ time with the launch of the flagship F1. But ahead of this, the top-of-the-line variant has been benchmarked, confirming its high-end specs.
Following in the footsteps of recent leaks, the new benchmark listing once again confirms the presence of Qualcomm’s octa-core Snapdragon 845 processor – the Pocophone F1 could become the cheapest Snapdragon 845-powered smartphone on the market upon release – and a total of 8GB of RAM. Together, these achieved a single-core score of 2451 and an impressive multi-core result of nearly 9000, putting the device on par with the likes of the OnePlus 6 and the HTC U12+. Elsewhere on the spec sheet, recent information has pointed to the presence of 64GB of internal storage that can be expanded via a microSD card slot, and a separate variant with 6GB of RAM. Additionally, a large 4,000mAh battery will be included alongside Android 8.1 Oreo complete with the MIUI custom overlay on top.
In regards to the external aspect of things, a notched 6-inch LCD display complete with a chin down below will be included. However, due to the “back to basics” approach that the new sub-brand has taken in order to keep costs down, certain compromises have been made. Perhaps the more notable one is the rumored presence of a plastic rear panel, rather than aluminum or glass alternatives.

Overall, while certain areas of the smartphone may not be on par with other flagship smartphones, the high-end specs should be enough to entice customers across the launch markets, especially when the pricing of the smartphone is considered – the device is expected to cost €430 in Europe, which equates to $490. Currently, it’s unclear how soon the Pocophone will launch after its unveiling in India, but with just two days to go, it shouldn’t be too long before all the details are revealed.
