The Nun And Paltan Review: While The Nun Fails To Impress Us, Paltan Is Worth A Watch

The Nun And Paltan Review: While The Nun Fails To Impress Us, Paltan Is Worth A Watch
Finally, the movie “The Nun” is released at the box and the movie did not complete the expectation of horror movie lovers as it is not that much intriguing but the ambiance of the movie is great.
The movie is set in 1952 which begins with the narration of the para-psychologists, Ed and Lorraine Warren who is also known for “The Conjuring” series. The narrator reveals that one of the paintings, hanging on the walls of their Connecticut home, is spooky.
Lorraine said: “I had a vision in Amityville, I had a premonition of your death. The demon in the painting is real.”

The movie shows the set up in Romania where a convent’s nun hangs herself after being chased by a malign spirit. Nun’s body is spotted by Frenchie (Jonas Bloquet) a resident of Biertan, a village close to the convent. So, they send a Spanish priest Father Anthony Burke (Demian Bichir) and a young novitiate Sister Irene (Taissa Farmiga) to investigate the happenings there.
That’s where the trauma starts with no cause and effect sequences but just effects, random and unjustified.

Apparently with the falling skulls and zombie-like spirits make the movie much more amusing than scary. Screaming, banging off the walls creepy door sounds, the movie will give you not much of horror but will leave you yawning.
You will find some of the horror scenes, comedy but all in all this movie is made with excellent production values, cinematography, sound design, and art direction.
The Nun deserves just 2 stars for raising our expectations first and then letting us down.
Another movie which is ready to compete with The Nun is Bollywood flick Paltan. The movie was already in news for various reasons and today it has hit the box-office with great expectations. Well, it’s just the start of the day so, we are not guessing any box-office numbers. But before you step out to watch the movies, let’s give you a quick movie review.
Director J P Dutta is known for movies like Border and LOC Kargil and a lot has been expected with Paltan.

The film is about 1967 Indo-China military clash at Nathu La along the Sikkim border. The film has a stellar star cast of Jackie Shroff, Arjun Rampal, Sonu Sood, Gurmeet Chaudhary, and Harshvardhan Rane among others.
India is safeguarding its Sikkim border at Nathu La and is fortifying its base there by gathering the troops. The first half is quite interesting as it shows ordinary verbal altercations punctuated by a considerable measure of strategic moves and strategical arranging. The troopers all bond among themselves, sharing accounts of their lady love back home, and yell as loud as possible in outrage at the Chinese intrusion of Tibet in 1962. We see them baffled with Chinese slyness of being all agreeable, however, setting aside a few minutes to time. The strain expands on the first half and the film had every one of the makings of a clash in the second half. In any case, as pointed out as of now in the film, no officer needs a clash. So it will be interesting to see if the Paltan will figure out how to deflect a clash.

Paltan is JP Dutta’s third film based on a clash film after Border and LOC Kargil. Apart from that, Dutta has also directed Umrao Jaan and Refugee among others.
Paltan surely deserves 3 stars.
