Two IAS Officers Worked Silently Without Revealing Identities At The Kerala Distress Camps

Two IAS Officers Worked Silently Without Revealing Identities At The Kerala Distress Camps
The recent heavy rains in beautiful scenics of Kerala gave a tough time to the people there. The state needs to be constructed again. With the help of thousands of people’s donation through CM Distress Relief Fund and buying things online that directly reaches to Kerala’s relief fund.
In this tough time, we have seen many inspiring stories of people who came forward to help out of their comfort.
Here comes another one, as a young IAS officer is getting appreciated from all over for silently serving the needy. According to local media, since Saturday, a young man was volunteering at a center who was seen collecting relief materials for the needy people. Along with many others, he was busy the whole day loading and unloading from the van. Post that Ernakulam District Collector visited the center at KBPS press, the other volunteers were surprised when they came to know about the man carrying bags with them was Kannan Gopinathan IAS, the Collector of Dadra & Nagar Haveli.
Kannan is residential of Kottayam and for helping the state in this tough situation he took a leave from his job. He also donated a cheque of Rs 1 crore from Dadra Haveli to the Kerala Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund. He had also volunteered in a camp in Alappuzha for days, without revealing his identity before moving to Ernakulam.
Sharing his experience on Twitter Official of traveling on public transport, unnoticed often in crowded buses with no seats to sit. He wrote, “Ha! The perfectly gender segregated TVM buses 🚌 after a long long time”.
Here’s his tweet:
His another tweet reveals how he couldn’t deny an advice of taking a bus instead of auto:

Used to the comforts of private travel, I asked,

Chetta.. Can I get an auto from here?

Why auto? Take the bus from there, it’s 10 rs & then a hardly a KM walk.

Couldn’t refuse that advice.

Public transport & walk!

Why do I forget it every few months.
2012 batch’s IAS officer, Kannan shared some moments of his Kerala travel. Sharing a video he wrote, “Aeroplane during turbulence & KSRTC on a good road. Two occasions I am scared as hell!”

From the relief camp, he also thanked those who are helping around there without any selfishness. In the first tweet, he wrote, “Lending a helping hand at a relief material Collection Centre. Hats off to the so many volunteers putting in dedicated efforts,” and in the second he has written, “With some of the dedicated volunteers/Govt staff who were diligently working so that the relief materials reach the needy at the earliest. #NumerousHeroes #RebuildKerala,” with two pictures.

This is the finished product. The back home kits. Yesterday I was made to do a lot of loading/unloading of these kits. 🤪

These kits are then be distributed through Village Offices to the affected people to kick start their lives. pic.twitter.com/F8cz7mbROE

He came to know that there is a shortage of people for unloading the material as they are resting after hectic day so along with Kannan and IAS officer MG Rajamanickam took the rest work in their hands.
